Renee Melville, MBA

Renee's strong work ethic and can-do attitude make her a favorite among fellow businesspeople and entrepreneurs, while her experiences owning and running several successful enterprises have taught her much about the challenges of leading and scaling a profitable business. Renee’s strategic approach embodies principles of operational efficiency, human resource development, and building accounting information systems.

She blends skills in diplomacy and communication with sound financial advice and broad business acumen. Her Northwestern University education in the field of Organizational Behavior complements her MBA (accounting concentration) from Keller Graduate School of Management.

Renee deeply values ongoing continuing education in executive leadership, professional development, and business systems management. She possesses sound analytical skills and is a CPA candidate in the state of Illinois.

On a personal note, Renee resides in Buffalo Grove with David Melville, has 3 sons and 2 stepdaughters, a beautiful granddaughter, and a cherished black lab. She enjoys travel, nature, gardening, professional development and personal financial investing strategies. Renee's childhood in Vernon Hills, IL gives her deep roots in the community.

Sam Iqbal, CPA

Sam is a Sr. Client Manager with Sharp Point. He graduated from California State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. Sam has obtained his CPA License and has experience working for a number of tax and CPA firms preparing individual, corporate, non-profit, estate and trust income tax returns. Additionally, Sam spent a year as an accounting manager for a non-profit and worked as a sales tax auditor for the state of California for over seven years.

Sam utilizes his tax and business knowledge to help clients analyze their business financials, solve complex tax issues, respond to IRS notices, and prepare correct tax filings that save money to clients on taxes. Sam also takes pride in his skills in client representation, applying knowledge and experience gained from auditing many different types of businesses. Sam aims to always deliver optimal client solutions and strives to obtain exceptional results.

Sam was born in Pakistan and grew up in Central California. Sam and his wife moved to McHenry, Illinois, in 2019. He enjoys spending time with family and friends when he is not working.

Yvonne Atwater

Yvonne is the Director of World Class Impressions for Sharp Point. Her background includes bookkeeping, office management and customer relations for a myriad of companies, from Mom and Pop shops to well-established larger enterprises. Yvonne is proficient in many versions of QuickBooks and is currently working to master FreshBooks, SharePoint and Karbon.

Yvonne loves to share her vast knowledge with her clients. She efficiently and enthusiastically tackles any challenge that comes her way. Yvonne shines by combining competent, reliable bookkeeping with a flexible approach. Her dedication to allowing her clients to have as much—or as little—involvement in their day-to-day bookkeeping tasks as they want is what makes Yvonne invaluable.

Yvonne was born and raised in Illinois. She has also lived abroad and in Louisiana for a number of years.  Yvonne is currently living in the McHenry area, raising her 4 children.  Her passions include baseball, softball and cheer. She has spent over 5 years coaching and directing her children in their athletic activities. On the rare occasion that Yvonne has some free time, she loves the water, boating and sunshine!

Lynsey Jones

Lynsey is a Jr. Client Manager with Sharp Point. She is a DeVry University graduate and has over 20 years of accounting experience working with businesses of all sizes, from large corporations to small startup companies. For the past several years Lynsey’s passion has been helping small business owners succeed by taking over their day to day bookkeeping tasks so they can concentrate on their marketing efforts and growing their business.

Lynsey is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and is also proficient in Microsoft Great Plains. She treats her clients like she would treat a family member and her dedication to her client’s success is apparent in everything she does. Lynsey’s background includes tax preparation, payroll, sales and use tax, and complex software conversions.

Lynsey is a native of the Gurnee area and currently resides on the Illinois/Wisconsin border in Beach Park. She is a very family orientated person. When Lynsey is not working she enjoys spending time doing outdoor activities with her teenage nieces and two year old twin niece/nephew. Her favorite times of year are summer and fall. She can also be found spending her free time doing DIY projects.

Katie Bjorkman

Katie is a Senior Bookkeeper with Sharp Point.  She began using QuickBooks when running her own small agricultural business and has been hooked ever since.  With her QuickBooks skills in tow, Katie spent several years working in the architectural metals and manufacturing field, where she successfully juggled bookkeeping, logistics, procurement, inventory management, and inside sales roles.

Along with a friendly face, Katie brings a strong attention to detail and her passion for process flow and organization to the clients of Sharp Point Bookkeeping.  As a former small business owner, Katie understands the importance of accurate financials businesses of all sizes to make sound decisions.

Katie and her husband are proud Wisconsinites.  A nature-lover at heart, she enjoys gardening and hiking.  She survives Midwest winters by dreaming of the return of weekend visits to the beach in SE Michigan with family.

Karen Corlew

Karen, a Senior Bookkeeper with Sharp Point, has a strong computer background in financial and business software. And she likes numbers. . . a lot. She’s an experienced QuickBooks trainer and mentor with over 25 years of helping small business owners attain better record keeping, better business practices, and a better bottom line. 

Karen has worked with a wide variety of clients including contractors, retailers, day care operators, manufacturers, and not-for-profits. She enjoys the challenge of analyzing each company’s bookkeeping needs and finding the best ways to utilize today’s changing technology and software to achieve their goals. The depth and breadth of her knowledge in the small business arena provide great value to her clients.

Karen and her husband Dave live in the northwest suburbs with their Boston Terrier, Roger. She is a big fan of Dr. Who, strong coffee, and red cowgirl boots.
